Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Mosquito (Official Video)

by: KYLE  |  Posted on May 12th, 2013

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are easily one of my favorite contemporary bands. Their album Its Blitz caught my attention and it’s still in a heavy rotation to this day. And now they’ve released a new song/video combo that I’m really digging. Their new single, Mosquito may be some extended metaphor for the parasitic approach opportunists have when approaching those who have something of interest, be it talent or money. Orrrr it could just be a song based on simple observation of mosquito activity. In either regard, it’s creative as hell. And the video is simply amazing…like, literally, it’s simple, but I’m amazed at how much visually stimulating activity was established in such a restricted scene. Not to mention that the artwork for the song is extremely vibrant and eye-catching. Check the video out below…

First Look: Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” Retro Re-Release

by: KYLE  |  Posted on May 12th, 2013

Today must be the day of the retros. It was recently announced that Jordan Brand will be re-releasing the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe” this May. I’m starting to lose count of how many times they’ve actually released this shoe, but it sells out every…single…time. It’s kind of like they’re printing money. Anyway, check for these to drop at your local Jordan Brand retailer May 25th.

We hope you take the time today, after you get yourself a little something from the Hot Rod Sale, to wish your mom a happy mother’s day and spend some time with her even though this holiday may have been initiated as a marketing ploy for greetings card companies. It’s still important that you make your loved ones feel loved; just take Kristin Wiig’s SNL commercial for 1-800-FLOWERS.com for example

First Look: The Retro Olympus Pen E-P5 Digital Camera

by: KYLE  |  Posted on May 12th, 2013

Here’s a little something for all of you photographers:

“With the resurgence in retro styling inspiring its design and pro-level specs driving its internal mechanics, the PEN E-P5 is Olympus’ latest Mirco Four Thirds Digital Camera making headlines across the industry.

It’s been almost two years since Olympus has released an upgrade to their E-P3 – which seems like a lifetime these days with the way technology changes – and they pretty much decided to go back to the drawing board with this one, reworking the control layout into one with a more traditional look as well as streamlining the custom functions.

Olympus also decided to integrate QR codes in with their Wi-Fi set-up instead of NFC, making connecting another device literally a snap, while also upgrading the AF system, the image-stabilization system, adding a tiltable touch screen, and a host of other photo goodies. Overall, the E-P5 looks nice and performs even better.”

Skate ‘LIFE’ in 1965

by: Hunter  |  Posted on May 9th, 2013

Skateboarding, LIFE opined in 1965, is “the most exhilarating and dangerous joyriding device this side of the hot rod. A two-foot piece of wood or plastic mounted on wheels, it yields to the skillful user the excitements of of skiing or surfing. To the unskilled it gives the effect of having stepped on a banana peel while dashing down the back stairs. It is also a menace to limb and even to life.”
